A pair of leather motorcycle vest and helmet were found in a car in a salvage yard in San Diego.
A second motorcycle vest found in the same salvage yard was not owned by the owner.
Police are investigating the incident.
The Leather Motorcycle Vests Association, which owns the two vests, said Friday that the vest belonged to the association’s founder, a man who was living in a nursing home in nearby Carson City when he was killed last year.
The association has since filed for bankruptcy.
The San Diego Fire Department’s accident investigation unit is investigating the case.
